JAVIER MONTEJO
CEO AND FOUNDING PARTNER
Javier's practice covers two broad areas, real estate law and corporate law. He has extensive experience in structuring real estate businesses, as well as in corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and succession.
His experience is enriched by his master's degree or LL.M (Legum Magister) in Global Business Law from Columbia Law School, located in New York City, United States of America.
In addition to being a lawyer, Javier is a notary public of the Republic of Costa Rica, which allows him not only to advise his clients but also to carry out the proceedings personally.
Javier's client portfolio is mainly made up of foreign companies with a presence in Costa Rica, as well as foreign investors, however he also represents well-known national companies.
According to his clients, Javier stands out for being an outstanding lawyer with an efficient response and a fresh vision of law in general. The attention to detail and concierge service makes his clients feel empowered not only from a legal perspective but in their businesses and investments in general.
Prior to being one of the founding partners of Lawgical, Javier worked as an associate at several law firms, such as Montejo Law, Consortium Legal, Sfera Legal and EY Law.

• He was part of the team that represented The Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) during the entire regional mergers and acquisitions process with Citibank, N.A, which consisted of approximately $70 MM USD.
• Advised the real estate developer Grupo Roble, a subsidiary of Grupo Poma, during the application process for a $10 MM USD loan in Costa Rica for the expansion of the Multiplaza Shopping Center.
• Co-led the legal team, composed of approximately ten attorneys, to assist the local operation of the developer group SunVesta Holding AG (SVH), for several of SVH's operations in Costa Rica, which comprised an investment of +$50 MM USD.
• Acted as local legal advisor to Infutor Data Solutions, a Fortune 500 Company located in Chicago, USA, in obtaining a line of credit of +36 MM USD to be applied to its Costa Rican subsidiary IDSolution de Costa Rica, S.A.
• He was director of the fiduciary and escrow company Montejo Trust, which managed portfolios of more than +22 MM in real estate transactions in Costa Rica.
• Managed the acquisition by Czech Investment Group of The Look Out Inn hotel, located in Puerto Jiménez, Puntarenas for $1.5 MM USD.
• He directed and advised Infutor Data Solutions in the sale of the commercial establishment of the Costa Rican company IDSolution de Costa Rica, S.A. to Verisk Analyticals to later become the local advisor to the buyer.
• He is currently the Managing Partner of Lawgical Costa Rica and is in charge of the Real Estate and Asset Structuring Department of the firm, which since the founding of Lawgical, has covered real estate transactions for + $15 MM USD throughout the Costa Rican territory.
